A Study on Knowledge Level of Farmers Regarding Paddy Straw Management in Punjab, India

Punjab is the state that contributes most food grains to central pool and mostly an agricultural state. Small marginal farmers are backbone of Indian agriculture. Majority holdings medium number such increasing with fragmentation land. So, present study was conducted objective studying socio-economic characteristics respondents. Data were collected from Pathankot Gurdaspur district Punjab. Two blocks selected each total four 25 respondents randomly make sample size 100 It found vast proportion belonged old age category. Youth moving abroad showing less interest in agriculture sector. Significant percentage (49 percent) have attained schooling up matric level belong nuclear family. though having good farming experience education level, not sticking recommended practices resource use levels. The information operational landholding classified into Small, Semi- medium, Medium Large categories i.e. 4-10 acre findings also revealed who attended more training had extension contacts high knowledge regarding paddy straw management.
